From humble beginnings, Deanna DiMichele started Kona Wedding Officiant® in 2017 with a dream to own her own business. She was blessed with the opportunity to retire as (early) a teacher and take on her dream as a business owner. Deanna was gifted the opportunity to follow her life path as a wedding officiant. Since this time, she has embarked on a journey to grow Kona Wedding Officiant® and has since married over 1,000 happy couples and trademarked her business name.
Learn more about Deanna's story here.
Deanna's wedding ceremonies are typically non-denominational and typically spiritual. Couples have the choice between traditional, spiritual, Hawaiian, and Christian ceremonies. Ceremonies may be customized to include different elements including the lei exchange, sand blending, Hawaiian ring blessing, hand binding, personal words, and other elements couple may wish to include to honor loved ones, such as poems, music, a family lei exchange, or speeches. Deanna communicates with couples during the planning process via email, text, and phone and if desired, will schedule a virtual meeting to get to know couples better.
Kahu Tom Fernandez has been a resident of the Island of Hawai’i since 1988. He was born and raised on Oahu and after graduating from college he moved to Kailua-Kona where his family has lived for 3 generations. Tom has been a Kahu/Minister at Kalāhikiola Congregational Church since 2005.
Kahu Tom's wedding ceremonies include both English and Hawaiian vows. Kahu Tom shares about the Hawaiian values of aloha and ʻohana that are being created as two people are married. A basic ceremony is available, however customizing the wedding to include a lei exchange, sand ceremony or special touches honoring parents or loved ones are always available. Typically the ceremony is approximately 15-20 minutes long, however a special reading or an inspirational message can always be included depending on the wishes of the bride and groom.
Reverend Libby has been marrying couples of all nationalities, religions, traditions and genders since 1991. She specializes in Jewish wedding ceremonies, but provides ceremonies of all types including non-denominational and Hawaiian. Reverend Libby connects with you before-hand so you know each other and are completely comfortable on your wedding day. She'll arrange to meet you virtually either on Zoom, Facetime, Messenger or WhatsApp and also communicate via email.
From Reverend Libby:
"Your wedding should reflect you, so I specialize in personalized wedding and renewal ceremonies for all couples. Sacred and romantic, they incorporate the more beautiful Hawaiian traditions if you would like that. Wherever I speak Hawaiian, I will translate it into English so you know what is being said. You can choose your style through samples I'll provide. Know that your ceremony shines the light on your love."
Elisabeth Stapleton is originally from Boston and is a talented storyteller. A former wedding photographer, Elisabeth has a talent for helping couples feel comfortable during their ceremonies.
Elisabeth performs traditional, non-denominational ceremonies that can be customized to include elements such as the lei exchange, blowing of the pu and Hawaiian ring blessing.
