Toni and Jesse had a big family wedding at Kukio Beach. This couple spent a long time planning their wedding from the mainland and I wanted to do whatever I could to ensure that their special day here in Kona was perfect.
Originally, we applied to Hawaii State for a permit to have their wedding up at Hapuna Beach, because Toni and Jesse believed that their wedding party was going to be over 30 people. Even though we got their permit approved for the afternoon of their wedding, it was Toni and Jesse's true desire to have their ceremony at Kukio Beach due to this location's proximity to Kailua Kona town and seclusion even in the middle of the day.
This couple's wish came true and their wedding party fell just shy of 30. Only 25 guests made the trip out to Hawaii for their ceremony. With my three vendors, our numbers were at 28, and I was able to obtain the permit for this couple to have their dream wedding at Kukio Beach in North Kona. We had their ceremony at 4:00 so they could make their sunset reservations at Chillin` On The Bay, the venue they rented out for their family reception for after their wedding.
Uma, our ukulele player, serenaded the couple's guests while Gerald Besson, our chief photographer, started the couple's first photography session. Toni and Jesse not only received some beautiful, but also some really fun photographs with one another. I love weddings where you can see the joy on the couples' faces during the wedding.
Toni and Jesse's ceremony began with a processional. Uma played "Lemonade" while the couple's bridesmaids proceeded, and then Toni walked down the aisle with her mother and father.
This couple was so lucky to have so much of their family make the trip out to Hawaii to celebrate their love with them.
They chose to begin their ceremony with the Blowing Of the Pu and a Hawaiian Oli Blessing. After the opening ceremony, they exchanged flower leis and vows. The couple then blended the sand from beneath their feet and were pronounced husband and wife!
They ended their ceremony with "The Hawaiian Wedding Song" and lots of hugs!
Thanks to their large family, there was a lot of love on the beach for this couple after their pronouncements, which we were able to capture in many lovely and memorable photographs.
