Michelle & Clinton's Hapuna Beach Elopement

Michelle and Clinton celebrated a simple beach elopement at Hapuna Beach this last November. They had an intimate wedding, just the two of them and a few guests from Kona Wedding Officiant, including myself, our associate photographer Leah Wright, and our ukulele player, Uma Ojeda.

Their wedding began on a beautiful afternoon and a quiet beach day. The couple was staying at the Hapuna Westin Resort, so Hapuna Beach was the perfect location for their Big Island Hawaii beach elopement.

I started their intimate ceremony just before sunset with the blowing of the pu (Hawaiian conch shell) and a Hawaiian Oli Blessing. This couple exchanged Hawaiian leis, shared vows and lovely personal words. They also had a sand blending ceremony.

Michelle and Clinton decided not to exchange rings but instead to have a hand-binding ceremony, which is a old tradition for the term 'tying the knot.'

After Michelle and Clinton were pronounced husband and wife, they took many more photographs along the beautiful Hapuna Beach shoreline.
