For a lot of couples, flying all the way to Hawaii is a huge wedding adventure. But Jenn and Jonathan are not your typical couple, so a wedding trip to Hawaii just wasn't going to cut it. This New York couple decided that a hiking wedding in Hawaii's Valley of The Kings, Waipio Valley, was the adventure elopement that they wanted when they tied the knot.

I met Jenn and Jonathan early on a summer morning at the Waipio Valley lookout. It was a hazy and heavy morning. The sky was thick with fog and I worried it might be raining in the valley. The couple dressed smart, wearing hiking clothes and boots, just like I had advised them to.

We began our descent into the valley just after 8:30 am and admired Waipio's magnificent views on the steep climb down. This early in the morning, the valley was not yet very crowded, but I could feel the people coming. We made our way to our first photo location with our photographer, Gerald Besson, just in time for the pouring rain.

Jenn brought an umbrella, and while Gerald photographed them, I went to set up for their private beach ceremony. Although the rain continued to fall, Jenn and Jonathan didn't care. They were enchanted with the experience of their Waipio Valley wedding. They were together. They were in love.

Jenn and Jonathan enjoyed a private ceremony on Waipio's black sand beach. Although we started out wet and in the rain, during the ceremony the sky cleared and opened to be beautifully blue and clear for this adventure couple.

After their ceremony, Jenn and Jonathan took more photos, now as husband and wife in the valley. Congratulations to this beautiful and adventurous couple. You have to be both to enjoy a Hawaii Adventure Wedding!
